A couple of photos

This is Ken and Penny's daughter again. Mom sent me some photos to post on her blog.

Mini update

This is Ken and Penny's eldest daughter.

Since Mom doesn't have regular access to the internet at her home, I have agreed to update the blog for her. She has promised to send photographs and another entry for me to post soon. (She has her hands full right now with a new pygmy doe and kid.)

Feel free to continue to e-mail or leave comments for her. I will make sure that she gets them.

This seems so foreign to me

I feel so awkward at this. I've written so many journals over the years, this should be easy. It must be the keyboard. And the bright screen in front of me. My journals were written by hand, in the warm glow of an oil lamp. Looking up into the light of such a lamp gives one much to reflect upon. Not so, here, but I shall try.

I am visiting my daughter and her family in Georgia. It is at her insistance, that I come into atleast the 19th century. She is the one so excited that Mom is face to face with the INTERNET. Even now, she taunts and laughs at me. Oh for my little cabin in the woods! She has a valid point. "Mom," she says"You and Dad need to do this. You will be able to reach out to other believers. You'll be able to reach people who don't know about you guys. It would be great for your ministry. THE WHOLE WORLD COULD SEE YOUR JOURNALS! Aughhhhhhh!!! I have to go to my happy place in my mind. There is no keyboard. There is no brightly colored screen. I am in front of my oil lamp. I am at home. Ahhhhh--at peace-----

My daughter is showing me how to connect in cyberspace. She set up this blog for me. She set me up at a place[site] called Christianforums. That was actually kinda fun. I remember when she was little---I'd take her hand and guide her to color. Now she takes mine and guides--a mouse. I home-schooled her early years. Now, look at her as she teaches me. Time flies by.

I'm doing alot of things that are not the norm for me. Driving to Georgia by myself, all the way from North Carolina. I had prayed, and told theLord, "If you want me in Georgia, I need a vehicle[my truck had died], and you're gonna have to pay for it." Within less than one hour, I was sitting in a used car and a promise of funds [plus] to cover it!!!! My Father in heaven loves me. This was a kiss on my forehead from him.

I feel like I am in another time. It takes a little adjusting to step back into an electricity based world. So unlike mine. My daughters did not continue in the simpler lifestyle, which is fine. We all find our own way. My daughter said we were "uber homesteaders". I don't know about that. My husband works in an office with a 50 mile commute one way. I am going to look for outside work when I get home. The animals will miss me. The gardening will suffer. The greenhouse will probably burn up. But none of it will miss me as much as I will be aching for it.

I should close for now as I am feeling quite lonely for my little mountain cabin home in the woods.

A New Beginning

April 27th, 2007
After many years of "off-the-grid living, we are embracing the internet as a way to connect with other believers. We are continuing our studies in the Word, and working toward Associates Degrees in Biblical Studies. I(Penny), have finished my first unit of study in Biblical Counseling and I am learning so much. As we are continuing our lifestyle "off line", we will from time to time, check in at the local library to update and receive comments.

Getting to know us

Well, let's see. I've spent a good deal of my life living rather rustically. Living in the woods, home-schooling my daughters, loving my best-friend. My youngest was touched by our Lord and raised from the dead. When she grew up, she became a short term missionary. My oldest daughter, made a trip to Mexico. We went through the rough teenage years, like most. Readjusting marriage years. His stents. His heart attack. I watched that awesome guy with those incredibly beautiful eyes change from a city boy to Grizzly Addams overnight. I live in a cabin we built by hand from culled wood and recycled materials. It sits in the woods. I have a wood cookstove, and we use oil lamps. We have a 12volt system and a generator. I garden organically. We have a dog, cats, kittens, and goats. We have grandbabies, 4 of them! I'm am so blessed.----- Love, Penny
